This is the second live hang out of the International False Rape Timeline. There was a very small turnout but a lot of ground was covered including - in no particular order - the fallacious rape trauma syndrome and the bogus claim that most rape victims don’t report. The former includes a short discussion of the original research by Ann Burgess, using the analogy of the disparate effects of the murder Sarah Payne case on her parents. The Rodney Anderson case demonstrates clearly how women rewrite their sordid sexual encounters as rape. The Daniel Holtzclaw case shows the types of women who are genuinely unlikely to report rape contrasting these with regular women, one of whom took him down. Regarding delayed allegations and the likely effects on those falsely accused, the cases of victim Andrew Bond and the later false accuser Kerry Thomas are discussed. All this and more.
